"trespass"
hidden within the peak district at the bank of the river derwent, this proposal sits adjacent to the ever so popular stepping stones access that draws connection from one side of the river to the other. Naturally, this site gains a dense amount of foot traffic; to address this, the brief for this project outlined the idea of constructing a small shelter with a capacity for 5 people that promotes a certain function relative to it's surroundings.
Through iteration, testing and research into the area, the idea that initially focused on the forms of light that are casted by the various trees on the river bank evolved into the activity of solar eclipse viewing in the peak district. fortunately for it's purpose, the site was ideally located within a prime eclipse viewing region - this influenced the form of the proposal, with a viewing trapdoor located at the centre of the internal space, with a circular cantilever over the entrance of structure that at a plan view, shows the exact eclipse scheduled for the year of this project. In addition to it's eclipse like form, the building celebrates the organic nature of it's site in it's materiality - a timber framed structure an emphasis on biophilic design.
